about

This studio began as a parallel practice to my photography—mostly drawing and painting as a way to slow down, work with my hands, and make pieces for my own home that reflected the life I was living. Over time, that work began to resonate with others. Many pieces grew out of personal requests, gradually shaping Rachel Cleveland Studio into a small, independent creative space.

I’m Rachel George Cleveland, an Auburn, Alabama–based artist and the founder of this studio. My background spans both the dive-travel and design-build worlds, and the work here is informed by time spent in both—movement and stillness, function and form, lived environments on land and underwater.

The art pieces that come from the studio are meant to be lived with. They’re made as objects for real people and real homes as heirlooms to be hung, leaned, gifted, and passed along. And designs are meant to be used, specifically though-though for the intended recipient. The scale is intentionally small, and the pace is unhurried.

Each piece reflects the pleasure of making something carefully and thoughtfully, by request or for personal study and letting it find the right home. The studio isn’t built around constant production or scheduled releases. It’s built around inspiration and the way I work—quietly and personally—which is why work only appears when it’s finished and ready to be shared.
